Q: What is your goal here?
A: Our goal is to make people think. Our goal is to give people the opportunity to be heard in a way that doesn't require them to do anything as long as they DON'T DRIVE ON SUNDAY. Call it "Passive Activism", where millions of Americans can protest the Status Quo in Washington and the profiteering of the Oil Companies, simply by staying at home on Sunday.
Our goal is to reach millions of Drivers that burn gasoline on Sunday, and encourage them to park their cars and stay at home one day... NATIONAL PROTEST SUNDAY MAY 18, 2008! 13% of the nations driving is done on Sunday. Reducing that number by just a few percentage points will have a huge impact on gasoline consumption. Tens of millions of people staying home and refusing to drive their cars on the NATIONAL PROTEST SUNDAY MAY 18, 2008! will definitely impact the profits of the oil barons.

Q: How much gas can be saved by staying home on the NATIONAL PROTEST SUNDAY MAY 18, 2008?
A: It depends on how many people participate. The
Bureau of Transportation Statistics
website reports that on average, Americans drive 40 miles every day. Assume the average vehicle gets 20 miles to the gallon. If you would otherwise drive about 40 miles or more on a Sunday, you'd save 2 gallons of gas if you stay home.
Assuming a price of $3.25 per gallon, just one person would save 2 gallons of gas, worth about $6.50.
But One Million People, would save more than Two Millon (2,000,000) gallons of gasoline. Ten Million People would save Twenty Million (20,000,000) gallons and take more than Sixty-Five Million ($65,000,000.00) retail dollars out of a system that is driven by Greed and Corruption.
Q: So this site is Anti-Bush?
A: Actually, Don't Drive On Sunday isn't a political site at all. It's a people site. We're not asking people to vote. A lot of people who buy gasoline have never voted. But everyone that has a car is impacted by the price of gasoline, which is controlled by the Oil Companies and the Politicians that make policy, set taxes and de-stabilize oil rich countries in the Middle East.
We don't care if you love the President or hate him. We don't care if you're a Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, straight or gay. We only seek to encourage people to park their cars and DON'T DRIVE ON SUNDAY!
Q: Ok... so is this an Environmental Site?
A: Obviously, if Ten Million cars stay parked, and Twenty Million gallons of gasoline are not burned, the environment wins on Sunday. Anything that's good for the planet is good for everyone on the planet. But our purpose is to give people the opportunity to do something... by doing nothing as long as they DON'T DRIVE ON SUNDAY!
Q: Is this site Anti-Capitalist? Is this a Communist Web Site?
A: No... we are Pro-Business, Pro-America. The United States is the greatest country in the world, and we are excersizing our Freedom of Speech and our Liberty to stay at home on Sunday! We are simply Fed Up with the way things are going, and we've come up with a way that Anyone and Everyone can do something to be heard by simply parking their cars and staying home on Sunday.
However, if YOU don't do something about the current state of Energy Policy in the United States, our entire economy will suffer. Everything that is bought or sold in this country is shipped somewhere in vehicles that burn fuel. As fuel prices rise, so do the cost of goods. Unless wages rise in proportion, fewer goods will be sold, because we're all spending our money on gas. DO YOU GET THE PICTURE YET?
Q: How can this impact the economy?
A: Help us find out! We are not economists or energy experts or political activists... we're just ordinary people that want to do something different to make a stand. DON'T DRIVE ON SUNDAY does not profess to be an authority on anything. We just want to make YOU aware that YOUR voice can be heard... just by staying home on Sunday!
What we do know, is that Americans drive too much. We consume tremendous amounts of oil on a daily basis, which reverberates throughout our economy, our ecology and our society. 13% of driving in America is done on Sunday. Just lowering that to 10% would have a major impact. If Ten, Twenty, Thirty Million People or more stay home on Just One Day... this will send a message that Americans are Fed Up, and are staying home on Sunday to make that point.
Q: What if I have to go to work on Sunday?
A: You gotta do what you gotta do! We're not asking anyone to sacrifice anything that you can't afford to lose. We really don't want to see empty bars, theaters and restaurants on Sunday, just empty streets. Walk or Ride a Bike to work. Rent a horse for the day. Use a Pogo Stick... just DON'T DRIVE ON SUNDAY!
However, millions of people staying at home will impact businesses that are open on Sunday. Small business owners are welcome to join us, close their shops and stay home on Sunday. The sacrifice in just one day's profit, as opposed to the power of Thousands, if not Millions of Small Businesses closing as a part of this protest, may be worth it to YOU.
If YOU have a business that is open on Sunday, Close It on our National Protest Dates. Tell our leaders that YOU are tired of being manipulated, lied to, and controlled by Greedy Oil Companies and Corrupt Politicians. Tell them you're tired of making less profit because YOU are paying more for the goods that YOU sell because of rising shipping costs. Small Business Owners, YOU have a VOICE! Join our campaign... close up shop and DON'T DRIVE ON SUNDAY!
Q: What if I have to drive to go to Church on Sunday?
A: That is entirely up to you. You have to decide if missing Church on Sunday is worth being a part of this campaign. Perhaps you could attend a service on Saturday. In fact, YOU could organize a special Saturday service so your Church could be closed on one or all of our four National Rally Dates. If missing Church is simply not an option, rent busses to pick up parishoners or carpool to Church.
Or, YOU could organize everyone at your Church to park their cars and walk on Sunday. Imagine millions of parishioners being shown on newscasts, walking for miles and miles to attend Church. People in other countries throughout the world deliberately walk to Church as a show of faith. What a better way to show your faith, to walk One Mile, Five Miles or even Ten Miles Each Way, just to attend Sunday service.
Don't you think God would approve of you being a part of millions of people Fed Up with the Status Quo, who are willing to sacrifice their cars, but not their faith! Or are YOU only willing to worship as you choose with the convenience of an automobile? Do YOU have the WILL to park your car and WALK to Church on Sunday? At what price does gas get so high that you HAVE TO WALK TO CHURCH?
Would you stay home on Sunday and protest if gas was $5.00 per gallon instead of $3.00? What if gasoline cost so much that you can barely afford to go to work, let alone go to church. Because sooner or later, it will be and you won't have a choice if you DON'T DRIVE ON SUNDAY - NATIONAL PROTEST SUNDAY MAY 18, 2008!
Q: How much difference can one person make?
A: Plenty... because it takes only one person to stay home and not drive their cars on one of our National Rally Dates. It only takes one person to tell one other person and so on, until YOU tell enough people to stay home on Sunday. It only takes one person to organize your Family, your Company, your Church or Complete Strangers to support this movement, and have everybody stay home on our National Rally Dates. And the beautiful thing about this protest... all you really have to do is DON'T DRIVE ON SUNDAY!
